Privacy Policy
Last updated 8 August 2026
Almi is an AI-powered food journal. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
Who we are
Almi is operated by Mohit Sharma, an individual developer based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. For any privacy question, or to exercise any right described below, email support@almiapp.com.
What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address and first name, via Sign in with Apple, Google, or email sign-up | To create and authenticate your account, and to address you by name in the app |
| Year of birth, gender, height, weight, activity level, weight goal and target date | To calculate your energy needs and personalise daily targets. We deliberately store only the year you were born, never a full date. Age in whole years is all the calculation needs |
| The meal descriptions you type, and the calories and macronutrients derived from them | This is the core function of the app: your food journal |
| Weight entries, logging streaks, and nutrition goals | Progress tracking and the weekly coaching review |
| Subscription status and Apple transaction identifiers | To verify your subscription and grant access |
| Device push token and time zone | To deliver your weekly review notification at a sensible local hour |
If you choose not to grant a permission or fill in a field, the app still works. The affected feature is simply reduced or unavailable.
Apple Health
Apple Health integration is optional and off until you enable it. You control each direction separately in Settings.
- Written to Health: calories, protein, carbohydrates, fat, and body weight from entries you log.
- Read from Health (only if you enable it): active and resting energy burned, and body weight.
Health data is used solely to power the features you enabled it for. It is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining, and is never sold or shared with third parties or data brokers. Turning the integration off in Settings stops all reading and writing immediately.
AI processing
When you log a meal, the text you typed is sent to our AI provider (currently OpenAI) to be turned into structured nutrition data. Your name, email, and account identifiers are not included in that request. Only the meal text and your estimation preference is sent.
We send this through OpenAI's API, which under their current terms is not used to train their models. That is their policy rather than a guarantee we can make on their behalf, so if it matters to you, check OpenAI's policies directly.
The weekly coaching review is generated the same way, from your aggregated nutrition totals for the period.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored with Supabase (Postgres) on servers in the European Union (Ireland). Row-level security is enforced at the database level so that each account can only ever read or write its own records.
Sub-processors
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, and backend hosting |
| OpenAI | Nutrition analysis and coaching text generation |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, subscription billing, and push notification delivery |
| Sign-in, only if you choose Google as your sign-in method |
Logs
Our authentication provider records the IP address of sign-in attempts as part of its standard security logging. This is what makes rate limiting and abuse detection possible. We do not collect IP addresses ourselves, do not log them in our own code, and do not use them to build any profile of you. These logs are retained by Supabase for a short period and then discarded.
How long we keep it
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it is removed. See below.
Your rights and choices
- Delete everything. Settings → Delete Account removes your profile, food entries, weight entries, and subscription records from our database. This is immediate and cannot be undone.
- Export your data. Settings → Export gives you your food and weight entries as CSV.
- Correct or access your data. Most fields are editable in the app. For anything else, email us.
- Revoke Health access at any time in Settings, or in Apple's Health app under Sources.
Deleting the app from your device does not delete your account. Use Delete Account first if that is what you want.
Children
Almi is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and for anything significant we will tell you in the app before it takes effect.
